A trip for the entire family and for children over 7 or 8 years of age where they can experiment with the diversity of Costa Rica in activities that are fun for children as well as those who are older in the family.

15 Days/14 Nights

Lodging: 2 nights in San José, 3 nights in the south Caribbean, 2 nights in Sarapiquí, 1 night in the home of a family in Juanilama, 2 nights in Arenal, 4 nights in Tango Mar.

Activities: Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo, cable cars, rain forest, Caribbean culture, white sand beaches, river canoe trip, bribri Indian culture, organic cocoa, flora and fauna , natural pools, time with local families, dairies and its milking process, waterfalls, Arenal volcano, hanging bridges, thermal water, hikes, Biological Reserve, regional food.

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica

Transfer from the international airport Juan Santamaría to a charming hotel that has been reserved for you this night in San José. If you want you can take a walk through the center of the city. Lodging in Hotel Villa Tournon or similar.

Day 2: Cable car in rain forest.  

The route today is through the mountains of the National Park Braulio Carrillo where we will make a stop to explore the different vegetation and altitude of the rain forest in a cable car. Later we will continue to the south Caribbean to Cocles beach, a place with Caribbean charm. Lodging in Bungalows Azania or similar (D)

Day 3: Free time and Caribbean cooking classes

During the day you will have free time to enjoy the beach or take some options such as Kayak tour ($44.00 pp*), surf lessons (2 hours, $55.00 pp*), observing dolphins ($55.00 pp*), Caribbean dance class ($33.00 pp*), bike rental (daily rental $5.00 pp*) or you can visit the Centro de Rescate Del Jaguar (entrance $15 pp*). In the afternoon we will learn the secrets of Caribbean cooking where you will prepare your own dinner: fish in a Caribbean sauce, “rice and beans” with coconut, fried plantains and juice prepared with fresh fruit. Day 4: Experiment the Bribri Paradice!

We will arrive to Bambú in the mountains of Talamanca, where they are waiting to take us by canoe on the Yorkín River which is a natural border between Costa Rica and Panama. On arriving we will walk to the village and on the way see cocoa plantation and organic bananas. We will visit Skui River, a hanging bridge, natural pools where you can take a swim. After a traditional Bribri lunch we will be shown the handcrafted production of cocoa and later taste the chocolate sauce recently made. In the afternoon we will return to Cocles Beach. Day 5: National Park Cahuita

Today we will visit the National Park with its white sand beaches and where you can observe monkeys, iguanas and birds. Along well made trails we will hike beside the Caribbean coast. Optional snorkel tour ($40 p.p*).  Later we will visit Aviarios Del Caribe, a private reserve for the rescue and breeding of sloths where we will have a guided tour of the installations. We will have a short tour by boat and a hike where we can possibly see sloths and their babies in a natural environment. After lunch we will continue on to the region of Sarapiquí. Day 6: Adventure in the River Sarapiquí

Raft tour with the impressive landscape along the Sarapiquí River. We will tranquilly paddle 11 kilometers down the river where we will have sufficient time to observe nature, birds, and other animals. In the afternoon we will hike in search of the secrets of La Tirimbina Reserve. Lodging in Tirimbina Rainforest Lodge or similar (D)

Day 7: Country life in Juanilama

We will travel to the northern zone to the picturesque town of Juanilama where the villagers will be pleased to share with us their rural lifestyle.  On arriving we will be taken to a traditional dairy where we can observe the milking and participate in the production of handcrafted cheese. Later we will hike through the reserve to the waterfall La Leona where we can take a refreshing swim in the natural pools. We will have lunch in the home of the hosting family and in the afternoon we will be creative with Doña Ana Guiselle who will show us how to create handicrafts using dried plants. What better way to end the day by playing soccer with the children of the community. Lodging in rooms with a private bath in the family home. (D/A/C)

Day 8: Arenal volcano

We will travel to the the Arenal Volcano region. We will visit the National Park with an altitude of 1,643 meters and hike over cold lava rock (approx. 2.5 hours). In the afternoon an additional option is to visit Ecocentro Danaus ($17 pp*), a biological reserve with a botanic garden and butterflies. Lodging in Catarata Eco Lodge or similar (D)

Day 9: Hanging Bridge and Thermal Waters

In the morning we will visit a total of 6 hanging bridges in a hike of more than 3km. through a rainforest and in the afternoon relax in Eco Termales, with five natural pools of thermal water. Lodging in Catarata Eco Lodge or similar (D/C)

Day 10: Beach, Sun and Ocean in the Nicoya Peninsula

We will travel south to Nicoya Peninsula. Picnic lunch in the Waterfall Llanos de Cortés. Lodging in Tango Mar Beach Hotel. (D/A/)

Días del 11 al 13: Beach, Sun and Ocean in the Nicoya Peninsula

Free time to enjoy the beach, spa, or activities that the hotel offers. Lodging in Tango Mar Beach Hotel. (D/)

Día 14: Return to San José

Return trip to San José. Farewell dinner. Lodging in the Hotel Villa Tournon or similar (D/C)

Day 15: See you son in Costa Rica!

Transfer to the airport to take return flight home. (D)
