Tour of the Eco Farm-Pococí, Limón

While we welcome you to the ECO farm you will have the opportunity to taste a delicious herb infusion.

To begin contact with Mother Nature we will take a hike guided by the ECO farm which includes a trip through the organic crops of medicinal plants. We will explain the principle uses, compare the advantages of organic agriculture in relation to conventional agriculture, the production and use of bio products such as organic fertilizer, bio insecticides, compost and other natural products. On this trip you can taste the food in harvest.

The trip also includes a visit to the wetland, of great importance because of its diversity, where we will explain its use and conservation and also a 600 meter trail hike. Later we will enjoy a delicious lunch if it is a day tour or dinner if it is a night tour. The person who visits us can also enjoy the kitchen learning how to make tortillas, heart of palm hash or tubers. All produce is grown organically on the ECO farm.

After lunch or dinner and an agreeable chat with fellow visitors and the team in charge of the tour and food, we will take approximately an hour hike through the tropical rain forest where we can observe a diversity of species of frogs, birds (150species were registered in the Guía de Aves de Costa Rica) and some mammals such as monkeys, sloths. We will also see native trees and plants typical of tropical rain forests and thus conclude the visit.

It is optional to have a coffee break “chorreado a la usanza tica” (brewed in the Tica way) and to sample a typical dessert made of coconut, rice, milk or tropical fruit. On some occasions and if the group requests it we can say farewell with “helado de palillo” (stick ice cream) a part of Costa Rican culture.
