Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica
One of our drivers will be waiting for you at the Aeropuerto Juan Santamaría to transfer you to a charming hotel in San José. Lodging: Hotel Rosa Del Paseo or similar
Day 2: Travel to the Central Pacific
Shared transfer to Manuel Antonio. Enjoy the beach, relax at the pool or reserve some optional individual activity such as kayak (presently $65 p.p), horseback riding on the beach (presently $75 p.p.), catamaran tour ($69 p.p.) or canopy tour (presently $65 p.p). Lodging: Cabinas Espadilla or similar (D)
Day 3: Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio
Optional to Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio (presently $16 p.p, closed on Mondays), which is famous for its beautiful white sand beaches and transparent waters. From the lookout Punta Catedral you can observe the paradisiac bay and with a little luck on the trail see squirrel monkeys, capuchins, marmoset that are endemic of the zone, in addition sloths and pizotes. Day 4: Adventure in Hanging Bridges Los Campesinos
Travel to the natural reserve Los Campesinos. The last kilometers are dirt in the middle of virgin forest beside rivers until you reach the small community of Quebrada Arroyo. Discover the history of vanilla and for the lunch hour enjoy a delicious meal prepared in an open fire. In the afternoon hike the trail Poza del Olivo (600 m longitud-1 hour), crossing a bridge 40 meter long, suspended next to the waterfall Los Chorros, where you can swim in a natural pool. Day 5: Reserva Los Campesinos
Hike along the trail to Mirador El Pacífico (3500 m longitude – approximately 2 horas), where you will see and the the forest from a rural perspective, you will cross in a cable car in the middle of a canyon lined with trees and you will enjoy the beautiful view of the Valle de Savegre. On your return to the hostel breakfast will be served and the rest of the morning will be free. If you want you can take the trail Los Chorros to reach the waterfall. In the afternoon visit the community with a stop at the sugar mill and finalize the day with a barbeque at the home of Don Víctor and his family. Lodging in Posada Rural Los Campesinos (D/A /C)
Day 6: Reserva Los Campesinos
Enjoy the beautiful nature and the tranquility that surrounds the atmosphere in Los Campesinos. Today you can opt for optional activities such as a hike to Santo Domingo (presently a guide is $ 52), rafting tour, category II-III in River Savegre (presently $ 95 per person.) or rock climbing in the hanging bridge (presently $ 61 per person). Day 7: Playa Hermosa
Travel to the small community of Uvita, located on the Pacific coast. Lodging in Canto de Ballena (D)
Day 8: Playa Uvita
Enjoy your day at the beach with a picnic in Uvita and in the evening enjoy dinner, lodging in Canto de Ballena (D)
Day 9: Osa the tropical paradise
Travel to South Pacific, on arriving to Sierpe you will take a boat that will take you alongside a mangrove to arrive at Bahía Drake in the Península de Osa. An original adjustment, kilometers of uninhabited beaches, red macaws, and the seductive beauty of the rain that falls on the dense forest. In the afternoon you can hike to San Josecito beach, relax, and observe the sunset. Lodging in Poorman’s Paradise or similar (D/A/C)
Day 10: Observe Wildlife in Parque Nacional Corcovado
Visit Parque Nacional Corcovado, where you can walk the length of the golden sand beaches and the tropical rain forest, with numerous birds and mammals. Corcovado is called “a green jewel” as it possesses eight different ecosystems. Picnic along the way. Lodging in Poorman’s Paradise or similar (D/A/C)
Day 11: Isla de Caño: snorkeling
Travel by boat to Isla Del Caño, where you can swim and snorkel in crystalline waters. Lunch this day is a picnic. Lodging in Poorman’s Paradise or similar (D/A/C)
Day 12: Observation of dolfins
Leave in search of the playful dolphins, a boat trip that will take you to the South Pacific waters. Lodging in Poorman’s Paradise o similar (D/A/C)
Day 13: Encounter with Bribri Indians
Travel by boat for your return to Sierpe. Take a taxi to Palmar Norte (around $10), later the bus to Buenos Aires (around $3 per person). Travel to the Indian community of Bribri in Salitre. Bribripá Kaneblö, is one of the best places to learn about the Indian culture in Costa Rica. Enjoy a traditional lunch and later take a hike on a trail that will show you a variety medicinal plants. You can see some of the Bribri traditions such as the grounding of corn and the peeling of the rice. In Ú Sule or Casa Cónica, a place where you will hear details of the Cosmo vision of the Bribri. Participate in a small introductory class of the Bribri language and in the evening enjoy the traditional dances. Lodging in Posada Rural Bribripá Kaneblö (D/A/C)
Day 14: A day in the life of the Bribri
In the morning participate together with the Bribri in harvesting food products. In the afternoon you can visit the river and swim. Lodging in Posada Rural Bribripá Kaneblö (D/A/C)
Day 15: Explore the cloud forest San Gerardo!
Return to Buenos Aires where you will take a public bus to Cerro de la Muerte. You will leave the bus in the connection to San Gerardo de Dota (you must coordinate transport), to arrive at the picturesque community located in the valley of the River Savegre. In the afternoon you can take an optional hike to the waterfall (approximately 2 hours). Lodging in Sueños Del Bosque Lodge or similar (D/A/C)
Day 16: Search for the Quetzal
Start very early in the morning in the search of the magnificent Quetzal, distinguished by its sparkling green feathers, long and elegant tail and a brilliant red chest. On return to the lodge enjoy a delicious breakfast in the home of the Chacon family. The rest of the day will be free of optional activities. Lodging in Sueños Del Bosque Lodge or similar (D/A/C)
Day 17: Volcano Arenal welcomes you
Travel by public bus to San José, where you will take a Shuttle (shared private transport) that will take you to La Fortuna, a region where the Arenal Volcano is located. On arriving take the day to rest and relax in the garden. Lodging in Arenal Oasis Ecolodge or similar (D)
Day 18: Parque Nacional Volcano Arenal
In the morning visit Parque Nacional Volcán Arenal that has an altitude of 1643 meters. You can hike the trails that have traces of cold lava (approx. 2.5 hours). As an additional activity in the afternoon you can hike to the waterfall La Fortuna (presently $10 pp plus transport). At the end of the day relax in the warm thermal waters of EcoTemales where you can enjoy a delicious dinner. Lodging in Arenal Oasis Ecolodge or similar (D/C)
Day 19: Arenal Hanging Bridges
Visit the hanging bridges of Arenal: It is an experience in the middle of the forest from a different perspective! In a trip of some 3 kilometers you will cross 6 hanging bridges where you can admire the tops of the trees. The afternoon is free for optional activities. Day 20: The Caribbean!
Take the shuttle to Cahuita in the Caribe Sur of Costa Rica. In the afternoon discover the area. Lodging in Atlántida Lodge or similar (D)
Day 21: Parque Nacional Cahuita
An optional visit to Parque Nacional Cahuita (presently $2 or $10 pp plus transport), where you can enjoy the white sand beach, easily observe the monkeys in their natural habitat, sloths, iguana, and tropical birds. It is also possible to snorkel (presently $40 per person). Lodging in Atlántida Lodge o similar (D)
Day 22: Experiment the Bribri paradise!
Today a guide will accompany you. Together you will travel to a small community of Bambú in the Talamanca mountain range, where they will be waiting to begin a magical canoe trip on the Yorkín River, a natural border between Costa Rica and Panama. On arriving at the Bribri community you will walk the plantations of banana and organic cocoa, you will visit the Skui River and the hanging bridge. Take this opportunity to swim in the natural pools which will be the perfect complement to a hot day. Enjoy a delicious Bribri lunch and for dessert you will observe the traditional production of the delicious chocolate. You will return to Cahuita. Lodging in Atlántida Lodge or similar (D/A)
Day 23: Activities in Cari
Enjoy your last day at the beach! Lodging in Atlántida Lodge or similar (D)
Day 24: Return to San José
Transfer service will be shared from Cahuita to San José. You can walk the capital and know the Plaza de la Cultura, the Teatro Nacional and the Parque Central. Lodging in Hotel Rosa del Paseo or similar (D)
Day 25: Central Valley
Today you can choose some activities in the Central Valley such as visit Volcano Poás, Volcano Irazú- Lankaster Gardens -Valle de Orosi, Visit Museums (closed Mondays). Lodging in Hotel Rosa del Paseo or similar (D)
Day 26: Goodbye Costa Rica!
Airport transfer to take returning flights home. (D)
